Description
FICUS BENJAMINA / FICUS BENJAMIN, 10 SEEDS
Family: Moraceae.
Origin: Southeast Asia.
Characteristics: Ficus Benjamina comes from south-eastern Asia where it can reach 25-30 m in height; even in breeding it has a notable development, reaching even 5 m and can be successfully grown indoors. It has a characteristic crown because its branches develop in a disorderly, plumed shape; however, it tolerates pruning well, making it very suitable as an ornamental plant. The leaves are small, ovate, pointed at the end, of an intense green color and give the plant a very harmonious appearance. It produces small, globular fruits. Recommended as a Bonsai.
Soil: The soil must be loose and well drained, rich in humus and with two parts of peat, one of potting soil and one of sand. Exposure must be in the sun, better if not direct or in partial shade. Watering must be regular, but be careful of stagnation that could cause the roots to rot. Be careful of winter frosts.
Sowing: In early spring the seed should be placed in well-loosened soil, mixed with peat and sand. Germination should occur within 4-8 weeks.
