The Jalapeno is one of the most popular chili peppers in the world. Most Jalapenos are mild, but there are some varieties that are much hotter. This chili pepper is named after the Mexican city of Jalapa. In Mexico, the Jalapeno is called Cuaresmenos. It is a particularly thick-walled chili pepper. The Jalapeno has a unique flavor. Commercially grown jalapenos are often canned or pickled. Jalapenos can be used fresh to make salsas or can be sliced into rings for nachos. They are also delicious in soups, stews, and on pizza. They are often stuffed with meat or cheese or breaded.
The Farmer's Market Jalapeno is a particularly rare, almost extinct variety of Jalapeño. It was discovered by John Fiedler, a native of Maine, and has also been named "Potato Skin Jalapeno" for its distinctive wrinkled skin.
For good germination maintain a constant temperature of 28 - 30 degrees.
