Description
The period in which chilli peppers are normally sown outdoors is from March to May, when the minimum temperature does not fall below 15°C. This simple rule makes it clear that those who live in Northern Italy will probably do so in May, while those who live in the South will do so in early March.
There is an important distinction to be made between capsicum annuum (with ripening times ranging from 60 to 90 days after germination) and capsicum chinense (with ripening times of approximately 120 days). The latter are the hottest chilli peppers in the world and among the many best-known varieties, we find the Habanero, Bhut Jolokia, Naga Morich, Trinidad Moruga Scorpion etc.
