Characteristics
Traditional variety: Charleston Gray, appreciated for its taste and resistance.
Shape and Color: Large, elongated fruits with smooth skin and a light greyish-green color.
Exquisite Flesh: Red, sweet, juicy and refreshing, with few seeds.
High Productivity: Generates numerous fruits per plant, ensuring an abundant harvest.
Easy to Grow: Ideal for beginners and experienced growers, requires standard care.
Non-GMO: Guaranteed non-genetically modified seeds for a natural garden.
High Germinability: 20 seeds selected to ensure excellent sowing success.
Cultivation
Charleston Gray watermelon thrives in full sun and rich, well-drained soil with a slightly acidic or neutral pH. Abundant watering is essential, especially during flowering and fruit development.
Sowing: Sow directly in the open field after the last spring frost (when the soil is warm and stable above 18°C), or in a seedbed 3-4 weeks beforehand for a later transplant. Plant the seeds about 2-3 cm deep, spacing them 1.5-2 meters apart.
Care: Requires regular and abundant watering, avoiding waterlogging. Balanced fertilization during growth and fruit development will promote greater yield. Protect young plants from temperature changes.
Harvest: Watermelons are ready for harvest about 80-90 days after planting, when the part in contact with the ground turns yellow and the tendril near the fruit begins to wilt or dry out. Gently tap the rind: if you hear a dull sound, it's ready!
