Cultivation
Growing Klondike RS 57 watermelon is a rewarding experience. For best results, follow these simple steps:
Sowing: We recommend sowing in seedbeds in April in areas with cool temperatures, or directly into the ground from May, once the risk of frost has passed and temperatures are consistently above 15°C. Plant the seeds about 2-3 cm deep.
Soil: Prefers rich, well-drained soil with a good amount of organic matter. A slightly acidic or neutral pH (6.0-7.0) is ideal.
Exposure: Requires a position in full sun for at least 6-8 hours a day, which is essential for the sweetness of the fruits.
Watering: It requires abundant water, especially during flowering and fruit development. Avoid waterlogging, but keep the soil constantly moist.
Spacing: Watermelon plants are vining and require plenty of space. Leave at least 1.5-2 meters between plants and between rows.
Harvest: The watermelon is ready to be harvested when the part in contact with the ground turns yellow and the tendril near the stem dries out. When you tap the fruit lightly with your knuckles, it should make a hollow, hollow sound.
