Versatility: Excellent for making pickles, adding a unique sweet and sour touch.
Quality: High germination rate and Non-GMO seeds for conscious and natural cultivation.
Growth: Robust and easy to manage plant, suitable for different climatic conditions.
Cultivation
Growing the Barletta Blanca Onion is a rewarding experience and accessible to everyone:
Sowing: Can be sown directly into the ground or in a seedbed from February to April. In mild climates, autumn sowing (October-November) is possible. Plant the seeds at a depth of about 1-2 cm.
Soil: Prefers loose, well-drained, medium-textured soil rich in organic matter. Ensure a neutral or slightly alkaline pH.
Exposure: Requires a position in full sun, with at least 6-8 hours of direct light per day for optimal growth and good bulb formation.
Watering: Keep the soil constantly moist, especially in the early stages of growth and during periods of drought, but avoid water stagnation which can promote rot.
Care: Thin the seedlings when they reach 5-10 cm in height, leaving 10-15 cm between plants and 20-30 cm between rows. Hoe regularly to eliminate weeds.
Harvest: The bulbs are ready to be harvested between July and August, when the leaves begin to turn yellow and curl. Leave the bulbs to dry in the sun for a few days before storing them in a cool, dry place.
