Technical details:
Botanical name: Lithops pseudotruncatella
Seed Quantity: 10 seeds per pack
Plant type: Perennial succulent (large plant). Belongs to the Aizoaceae family.
Cultivation cycle: Slow-growing plant, but with remarkable longevity, which can live for many years if conditions are optimal.
Plant height: Typically the part visible above the substrate measures 2-3 cm, with most of the plant underground.
Uses: Ideal as an ornamental indoor plant, to enrich collections of collectible succulent plants, suitable for open terrariums or to create protected mini-desert gardens.
Plant Details: The plant consists of two fused, fleshy leaves that form an almost spherical or conical body, with a central fissure from which the flower emerges. Colors range from gray-green to reddish-brown, often with patterns and transparent windows on the upper surface. The flowers are solitary, bright yellow (or rarely white), and appear in late summer or autumn.
Hardiness and Origin: Native to the arid regions of southern Africa (South Africa and Namibia). Requires absolute protection from frost and minimum temperatures above 10°C.
Sowing period: Sowing is recommended in spring (March-May) or autumn (September-November) if you have supplementary artificial light and heating.
Optimal conditions for germination: It requires a constant temperature between 20°C and 25°C, high initial humidity (the pot can be covered with cling film or glass), and indirect but very bright light.
Soil type: Requires an extremely well-draining and porous substrate, specifically designed for cacti and succulents, with a high percentage of inert materials such as pumice, lapilli, perlite, coarse sand, and a small amount of organic soil. The ideal pH is neutral or slightly acidic.
Recommended exposure: Prefers full, direct sunlight for several hours a day, especially in the morning. During the hottest hours of summer, light shade can be beneficial to prevent sunburn.
Germination times: Germination can vary, from a few days to several weeks, generally between 7 and 21 days, but can be prolonged depending on conditions.
Pot or ground cultivation: Pot cultivation is recommended, allowing for optimal control of irrigation and substrate conditions. Open ground cultivation is only possible in very specific, dry desert climates.
Quality Specifications: Our non-GMO Lithops seeds are carefully selected for their varietal purity and tested to ensure high germination, offering you the best basis for successful cultivation.
