Technical details:
Botanical name: Mammillaria longimamma
Seed Quantity: 10 seeds per pack
Plant type and cultivation cycle: Perennial succulent plant, belonging to the Cactaceae family.
Plant height: Individual stems can reach a diameter of 8-15 cm, usually growing in compact, tufted groups that can spread out.
Uses: Excellent indoor ornamental plant, ideal for cactus collections, rock gardens in mild climates, terrariums and desert arrangements.
Organoleptic characteristics: Characterized by a globose or slightly cylindrical body, densely covered with long, robust, bright green conical tubercles. The areoles at the tips of the tubercles have short, pale radial spines. The diurnal flowers are a vivid, glossy yellow and bloom from the axils of the upper tubercles in spring. The fruits are small, green or reddish.
Hardiness and Origin: Native to the semi-desert regions of Mexico, it is a drought-resistant plant but sensitive to frost. It requires temperatures above 5°C.
Sowing and harvesting time: Sowing is recommended in spring or early summer (March-August) to optimize germination with warmer temperatures. Not applicable for "harvesting" in the horticultural sense.
Optimal conditions for germination: Requires constant temperatures between 20°C and 30°C, moist but well-drained substrate, high environmental humidity (achieved by covering the container) and indirect light.
Soil type: Requires an extremely well-draining substrate, specific for cacti, composed mainly of inert materials such as pumice, volcanic lapilli, coarse sand and a minimal percentage of organic soil.
Recommended exposure: It prefers full sun or very bright partial shade, especially during the hottest hours of the day in southern regions.
Germination times: Times can vary greatly, from 1-2 weeks to several months, but under optimal conditions you can see the first sprouts within 2-6 weeks.
Pot or ground cultivation: Perfectly adaptable to pot cultivation, ideal for apartments and terraces. In Mediterranean or tropical climates, it can be grown in the ground, as long as drainage is impeccable.
Quality Specifications: Our quality seeds are Non-GMO (not genetically modified), come from a variety selected for its aesthetic characteristics and hardiness, and are tested to ensure high germination.
