Technical details:
Botanical name: Parodia magnifica (syn. Notocactus magnificus)
Seed Quantity: 10 high-quality seeds for your collection or botanical garden.
Plant type and cultivation cycle: Perennial and succulent cactus, characterized by slow but constant growth, ideal for longevity in a pot or rock garden.
Plant size: It can reach up to 15 cm in height and 30 cm in diameter, often forming clusters that increase its ornamental value.
Uses: Perfect as an ornamental indoor plant, for rock gardens in mild climates, for succulent collections, terrariums or as a centrepiece in succulent arrangements.
Morphological characteristics: The body is globular or slightly cylindrical, with a distinctive bluish-green color. It has numerous, well-defined spiral ribs and areoles dense with thin, flexible spines, a characteristic golden yellow color, creating a "woolly" effect. In summer, it produces splendid blooms with bright yellow flowers emerging from the crown of the plant.
Hardiness and Origin: Native to Brazil and Uruguay, it is a hardy plant that prefers mild temperatures. While it can tolerate brief periods of cold if kept completely dry, it cannot withstand prolonged frost.
Sowing period: Spring (February to April) is the ideal time for sowing, ensuring stable temperatures favorable for germination.
Optimal conditions for germination: Requires a constant temperature of 20-25°C, high humidity (achieved by covering the container) and indirect but bright light to start the process.
Soil type: Requires a specific substrate for cacti and succulents, extremely well-draining and porous, with a predominance of mineral materials (such as pumice, lapilli, coarse sand) and a small percentage of peat or universal soil. The ideal pH is neutral or slightly acidic.
Recommended exposure: Prefers full sun or very bright partial shade. It's advisable to protect young and newly germinated plants from direct sunlight during the hottest hours of summer.
Germination time: Germination times can vary from 7 days to 4 weeks, sometimes even longer. Growing rare cactus seeds requires patience and constant attention.
Pot or ground cultivation: Ideal for pot cultivation, where drainage can be easily controlled. In hot, dry climates with excellent drainage, it can also be grown in the ground.
Quality Specifications: Our non-GMO Parodia magnifica seeds boast high germination rates and come from a selected variety to ensure genetic purity and vigor, essential for your successful grow.
